Entry Description
The jail was build in 1897 upon approval of Emperor Francis Joseph I. During the WWII Nazi Gestapo used this complex as a remand centre. The communist coup in 1948 attributed the prison as one of the notorious places. The perverted invention of “electric shoes” is the most famous symbol of evil, which has been “worn” by hundreds of innocent people. Now it has been prepared for the reconstruction so that it can one day become a National Memorial to the Victims of Totalitarian Regimes.
