The PASSAT was launched in 1911 as one of the legendary "Flying P-Liners" and sailed around the world until 1957. The PASSAT circumnavigated Cape Horn 39 times.

Today the PASSAT is a landmark of Travemünde, a district of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck in northern Germany, a museum sailing ship (based on the diary entries of Herbert Scheuffler, who enlisted in 1932 at the age of 15, the exhibition follows the life of a ship's boy on a long voyage) and a popular venue for events: you can rent two halls in Luke II & Luke IV for events (such as company events for up to 120 people or the traditional Labskaus dinner of the "Verein Rettet die Passat e.V."), stay Overnight on board for an unforgettable experience for individual travelers and groups, enjoy the outside deck at the reception of the Senate of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck on the occasion of the global sailing event "Travemünde Week" or get married in the captain's salon or in the house of cards.
