The 115 years old four-masted sailing ship PASSAT
Entry Description
The PASSAT was launched in 1911 as one of the legendary "Flying P-Liners" and sailed around the world until 1957. The Passat circumnavigated Cape Horn 39 times.Today the PASSAT is a landmark of Travemünde, a district of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck in northern Germany, a museum sailing ship (based on the diary entries of Herbert Scheuffler, who enlisted in 1932 at the age of 15, the exhibition follows the life of a ship's boy on a long voyage) and a popular venue for events: you can rent two halls in Luke II & Luke IV for events (such as company events for up to 120 people or the traditional Labskaus dinner of the "Verein Rettet die Passat e.V."), stay Overnight on board for an unforgettable experience for individual travelers and groups, enjoy the outside deck at the reception of the Senate of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck on the occasion of the global sailing event "Travemünde Week" or get married in the captain's salon or in the house of cards.
Further information about the ship can be found on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passat_(ship)
On behalf of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck, cp360pano.com implemented the entire sailing ship (including exterior shots on deck and from the jetty next to the PASSAT) completely in 3D as a virtual tour using MPskin, which offers special features that offer real added value:
• All information is available in German and English. This applies to the information in the user menu on the right as well as information points and headings integrated into the tour.
• In the user menu, viewers can: in the “Navigation” section, click on the headings of important areas of the sailing ship and move the image section shown to the corresponding area.
• Additional 360° images are also integrated into the 3D tour. They show the bow of the ship with a view of the mouth of the Trave River into the Baltic Sea, the pilot station, the MARITIM Hotel and the old lighthouse on the side of the old town as well as the view from the stern of the sailing ship over the Trave. If you click on one of the two preview images, a layer opens with the respective 360° view in which you can take a complete look around.
The four-masted barque Passat has shaped the image of Travemünde for over 60 years - as a museum ship, event location and irreplaceable piece of maritime history.
The Hanseatic city of Lübeck is therefore using our virtual tour of this legendary sailing ship to ask for donations worldwide, as repairs to this unique maritime monument urgently need to be carried out at a shipyard for preservation (the project study specially prepared by the city estimates the total gross costs of the repair and conversion at around 25 million euros).
